On Saturday, May 9th we’ll be hosting ALSI ceramics at the studio to teach a full day workshop on raku firing! The team will explain how Raku works, go over 2 different variations of raku firings, and will lead members in firing their own pots. We know the day is long, and if you need to leave by a certain time shoot us an email ahead of time so we can try and accommodate that!
Included in the event is the firing of 2 pots under 6×6×6. If you’re interested in firing a piece bigger than that, let us know and we may be able to accommodate one larger pot in lieu of 2 smaller ones. Before pots go into the raku firing, they need to be bisque fired at the studio. The bisque firings of these pots will also be included in the cost of the workshop and a tab saying “raku firing workshop” will show up under “firing type” in kiln fire for you to use so you won’t be charged. All pots for the workshop must be dry and on the firing rack by May 1st so we have time to get them out of the bisque by the workshop date!
This event is only open to city mud members! If we have extra spots we will next open it up to students, and then to the public. But for now, please just sign yourself up!
