In our intermediate lamps class we will be focusing on making table lamps and pendant lamp shades. We’ll go over throwing and trimming these lamp forms, sizing them to fit their hardware right, surface decoration, and carving techniques. Our last class will be dedicated to wiring our lamps together!
The class will be primarily on the wheel, but there will be hand-building elements involved too.
The class will run for 6 weeks from Sunday, January 4th- Sunday February 8th. The class is from 4-7pm, and is one time per week for the 6 week session. Also included in the class is one bag of either BMX grog or speckled clay, unlimited reclaim, and unlimited open studio hours.
In addition to the cost of the class you will need to buy a lamp kit. We have recommendations on kits that we think are both durable and a good value that we’ll go over in class together in week 1. Then we’ll place a group order so everyone can choose what kit types they’d like based on design and price! We estimate the cost of the kits to be around $50.
* Cancellations and make up classes: Please note that refunds requested before December 20th will be refunded in full, minus processing fees. We can’t offer a refund for a class that is requested after December 20th. Because this is our only lamps class running, we can’t offer make up classes if you miss a class!
