In this 6 week handbuilding class students will be taking a deep dive into slab construction! Students will work on slab-built forms with attention to fit, surface design, and everyday function.
In the class, students will design and create a series of ceramic boxes with sliding drawers and decorative surfaces, and/or have the option to focus on a slab project of their own design.
Some examples of projects students may choose to make are matchboxes, jewelry boxes, double drawer boxes, and multi-level boxes.
The class is open to folks who have some handbuilding experience, whether that means you’ve taken a handbuilding class previously, or you have spent some time working with slabs on your own. If you’d like to take the class but aren’t sure if you’re experienced enough, feel free to email hello@citymud.com and we can talk it through!
