throwing classes

We teach 6 week long beginner classes where students learn the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. Our classes are 3 hours long, once per week, with 10 students per class.

In addition to the class, students will have 7 hours of open studio time where they can practice what they’re learning on their own time. Open studio hours are available to students whenever another class or event is not in session.

The class will cover handbuilding methods such as pinch, slab, coil, hollow build, press molding, and assemblage techniques. In the class students will also learn several glazing techniques, and have the opportunity to work creatively with clay. The class will be taught by Kelly Cox.

The class is 3 hours long, once per week, and will run for 6 weeks.

The cost of the class is $295

students get 2 free firings under 6 inches by 6 inches, after which firing fees are 3c per cubic inch for bisque and glaze firings.

give it a try night

Our give it a try nights are a chance for people who are interested in learning how to throw on the wheel to try it out. Because learning to throw takes time, students shouldn’t expect to leave this class having made a beautiful pot, but they should expect to leave with a basic understanding of the steps involved in throwing on the potters wheel, as well as an idea of if its something they would like to take a longer class learning!

The classes are on Friday nights from 6-8:30pm, and dates are announced for the classes on our instagram towards the end of each month. We run two give it a try nights a month.

Our give it a try nights cost $75/person.

If a student decides to keep a pot they made at the event they are welcome to do so for an additional $15, and we will glaze and fire it for them! (this cost we don’t include in the class as not everyone has a pot they’d like to keep)
