Work Trade Program

Work trade members at city mud work 2.5 hrs a week at the studio to cover the cost of their membership. The work trade cycle runs for 4 months after which time work trade members are welcome to re-apply. The work trade positions are primarily cleaning related with some example tasks being: mopping the studio, restocking the clay, and cleaning the tables and sinks.

If you’re interested in applying to work trade please email us at hello@citymud.com and we will send you an application  for our next round which begins in September.

sliding scale memberships

In an effort to make practicing pottery more financially accessible, we are introducing a sliding scale membership program at the studio come May.

Sliding scale members will pay about 35% of a standard membership fee ($50). If that’s not possible, then we’ll work together to figure out what is! Each sliding scale membership will run for 4 months, after which time sliding scale members are welcome to re-apply; though priority will be given to new applicants.

Each month the studio will set aside funds to put towards the sliding scale program. In order to grow the program beyond what the studio alone can sustainably offer, we are reaching out to our members and community at large for donations. If you’d like to help us expand the program you can contribute here! All funds will go directly to the sliding scale program.

In order to give the donation fund time to grow, we are starting with 2 members, and will only use city mud funds to cover the sliding scale for May-September. Come September, we hope to expand the program with the help of our donation fund as well as our own continued contributions.

We are currently taking applications for our May 15th-September 15th cycle of membership! If you’re interested  in applying you can do so here. We will get back to you after we review applications on May 5th.

If you have ideas or input on how we could improve this program, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to email hello@citymud.com with any ideas or feedback!

As this program is starting small, we anticipate we won’t be able to accept everyone who applies. If you aren’t accepted, please feel free to reapply or to consider our work trade program which is outlined on this page as well!
